The 6th Greek-Turkish Young Leaders Symposium (GTYLS) on Security held between 3-10 December n the form of 6-7 sessions 3-hour long online sessions between 18:00 and 21:00 in partnership with the Thessaloniki-based Navarino Network, and the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom. The Greek-Turkish Young Leaders Symposium (GTYLS) on Security included the participation of 15 Greek and 15 Turkish International Relations and related specialists (MA students, PhD candidates, young PhD scholars, and professionals), aged between 22 and around 35 years old, and Greek and Turkish experts that acted as speakers and trainers.
The CIES aims to ensure that tomorrow’s political, business, social, and academic elites construct a framework which makes dialogue a key and requisite component of the relationship and build trust between the two countries. Considering the current circumstances due to the Covid-19, the 6th GTYLS organized online via the CIES’s Zoom platform. Sessions extended over a number of days and be limited to three hours a day. An online version of the Peer-to Peer Workshop also held. Finally, there were panels led by speakers and peer-to peer workshop sessions led by 2 trainers. The GTYLS held between 3 and 10 December 2020 in the form of 6-7 sessions 3-hour long online sessions between 18:00 and 21:00. There will also be 2-3 webinars held in November and December 2020 with experts addressed the current context between the two countries. The themes of this year’s sessions was “Greek-Turkish Relations: The State of Play”, “The Application of Liberal Values to Greek-Turkish Relations”, “The Role of NATO”, “Youth and Peace-building: A conceptual Framework”, “Young Leaders and Civic Engagement”, “Communicating Greek-Turkish Relations”, “Fact Checking and Fake News”, and an Unconference, a participant driven session.
